Community Peace Training Committee

The Community Peace Training Committee is a multi-agency group that coordinates local trainings on issues related to family violence, such as Domestic Violence, Stages I & II; Sexual Assault Training; Safe Havens Training; Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect; and The 3 C’s –Connectedness, Competence, Control: Encouraging Positive Relationships; and The Effects of Violence on Brain Development.

This Training Committee also organizes the annual conference in Chatham County, called “Working Together to Keep Families Safe”. The committee has been coordinating collaboration efforts in the county, as a follow-up to Safe Start sponsored collaboration training last year. These efforts include a Grant Writer’s Roundtable, a community-wide vision statement and plans to develop a "virtual community center". As part of this, the Committee has been leading the human services needs forecasting effort, in which community partners analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to human services in Chatham County, prioritized needs, and created action steps at the Community Resource Council meetings in June, September, and November.
