VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Partnership is looking for volunteers to help with our various Planning and Advisory committees. Please consider joining one of the following important efforts. You can read about committee activities on our What's New blog; look down the list on the right side of the blog where you will find committees listed under categories, minutes are stored there! Of course recent posts or announcements about a committee will also show at the top of the blog.
Board of Directors
The Board consists representation from the following key groups: Business and Community members, Government Agencies, and Service Provider agencies and organizations. (Visit our Board page to see a list of the current directors.)
Meeting Schedule: Quarterly, 3rd Tuesday, 6:00-7:30 PM

Planning and Evaluation Committee
The Planning & Evaluation Committee is chaired by the Board Vice-Chair and is responsible for identifying future goals, developing proposals for reaching those goals, evaluating the effectiveness of current activities, and submitting recommendations for consideration by the Board.
Meeting Schedule: Monthly, 1st Monday, 3:30–5:30 PM at the Partnership Office in Pittsboro
Development Committee
The Development Committee provides leadership for involving the Board in fundraising and works with the staff to implement a strategic resource plan for the organization.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee serves as the audit committee for the organization and shall provide oversight to ensure the integrity of the financial statements of the organization. The committee, chaired by the Board Treasurer, meets at least quarterly. The Finance committee reviews the detailed budget expenditure reports as well as the agencies overall fund balances and balance sheet. The Finance Committee holds an annual budget work session in May of each year to provide the opportunity for all Board members and staff to participate in the detailed budget development process. Once adopted by the Board, budget revision requests may be reviewed and approved by the Finance Committee, except in the case of changes to the total budget for and activity or project.

Focus on Child Care Committee
The Partnership is charged with implementing early childhood initiatives that improve the quality, affordability and availability of early care and education in Chatham County. The collaboration necessary for implementation as well and the input needed for development and oversight of these initiatives requires participation of individuals and agencies working in direct service within early childhood programs. The Focus on Child Care Committee also oversees the planning and development of the annual child care provider training and recognitions conference.
Meeting Schedule: Monthly, 2nd Monday, 6:30–8:30 PM
Focus on Family Support Committee
To achieve the vision of ensuring all children grow up safe, strong and ready for success requires strong parenting. The Partnership supports numerous family support programs. Focus on Family Support brings together direct service providers working to provide parenting education, parent training, individual & family counseling, home visiting, and family support. The committee works to advise the Board on the development of program goals and activities ensuring that the use of best practices in family support services to the extent that resources allow.
Meeting Schedule: 3rd Wednesday, 11:30–1:30 PM, in August, November, January, February, March, April, May
Focus on Child Health Committee
The health needs and resources for young children are an integral part of comprehensive early child planning. This committee includes a broad based group of community representatives and meets as needed as needed to advise the Board on the implementation and effectiveness of current health related activities and their goals, develop future goals and review proposals for reaching those goals, and submitting recommendations for consideration by the Board. This committee may also oversee the involvement of the partnership in health related community activities and events.
Meeting Schedule: Quarterly: 3rd Monday, 3:00-5:00 PM [August, November, February, May]
More at Four Advisory Committee
The More at Four Program provides high quality early childhood education to children at risk of school failure due to poverty and other factors. The Advisory Committee provides guidance and oversight to the implementation of this program and is comprised of community partner agency representatives, classroom teachers, parents, and other child care providers. This committee is chaired jointly by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board Chair for the Partnership for Children or their designee.

Ready Schools Steering Committee
The Ready Schools Steering Committee advises, plans, and implements the Ready School Initiative, which strives to fully integrate our early childhood education with public school improvement efforts. The Ready Schools Initiative is working to build a community-wide understanding that high quality education encourages children’s academic, social and emotional growth in a developmentally appropriate framework. Local schools and the Partnership are collaborating to improve children’s experience transitioning from preschool to kindergarten and between the early grades. In addition, the Ready Schools Steering Committee will oversee the Kellogg planning grant to conduct focus groups, research relevant issues, and write collaborative grants supporting Ready Schools and/or other programs that support early childhood education from birth to 3rd grade.
